British Columbia is recognized as the fastest-growing biotechnology centre in Canada. More than 90 companies provide opportunities for scientists at all stages of their careers.

British Columbia has invested more than $1.5 billion in science infrastructure to help researchers collaborate and refine their discoveries and develop them for commercial use. This includes $172 million for a new Life Sciences Centre at the University of British Columbia and $25 million for the Centre for Drug Research and Development.
