British Columbia has significant oil and natural gas resources. We are the only jurisdiction in Canada that is increasing both production and reserves.

The industry is the largest resource contributor to provincial revenue. Investment more than doubled to $6.1 billion in 2006. Natural gas production increased by about 40 per cent in the last 10 years, and natural gas reserves have increased for the last eight years.

Our new Net Profit Royalty Program will encourage the development oil and gas resources that have higher costs and greater technical complexity.
